WELCOME TO CALIFORNIA LEARNING CENTER
California Learning Center in Sacramento offers parents the opportunity to invest in their child’s future. We provide tutoring programs, serving students from Kindergarten through 12th grade in:
Students are taught by credentialed, experienced teachers, serving as tutors, using proven techniques. Our programs are individually tailored to meet the specific needs of each student. This enables our students, on average, to advance their skills at least one year for each course of instruction. We are committed to each child’s progress, and offer the open-ended commitment to student success that has become our hallmark.
Our research-based programs were developed at California State University,
Los Angeles. Diagnostic testing pinpoints students’ strengths and
weaknesses, and leads to a personalized program. An individually designed
tutoring program, documented in writing, ensures attainment of your child’s
goals. We seek input from students’ classroom teachers, and integrate
it into the education plans. Activity-based, hands-on experiences stimulate
primary and elementary children, while knowledge of the California standards
and curriculum content enables us to strengthen the academic performances of the Middle
School and High School students. We teach new topics using a variety of
approaches so that students quickly grasp novel concepts. Motivational plans
stimulate enthusiasm at all levels – young children love the reward
shelf, while our older students appreciate their ‘CLC credit cards’
which reward the effort expended. Our history of success is documented and
proven.To begin, diagnostic testing is administered to all students. We discover how a student learns and what specific educational areas need to be addressed. An academic profile is developed for each student, precise strengths and weaknesses are identified, and an individualized teaching plan is developed. Strong visual learners must be provided with clear materials to learn by seeing, while auditory learners succeed when they hear and talk about new material to be learned. Young students, and many older ones, learn by doing. When students understand how they learn, they are empowered to head for greater academic success!
COURSES AND PROGRAMS
SAT PrepH.S. students need to acquire confidence with the academic content of this exam, and must polish their test-taking strategies: we will identify needs in curriculum and "fill in the gaps." Practice tests with critical feed back help to hone test taking skills. This is what we offer.
MathWe teach students to understand concepts before they solve math problems. At the elementary levels, we use everything from hand-held manipulatives, to computer activities, to develop fundamental understanding. At the Middle & High School levels, we ensure that students truly grasp the concepts and then learn to apply their newly acquired skills
